Interesting Sights and Amazing Truths

Well, I have been steadily thinking about my trip to Melbourne for this coming week. I recently heard about a backpacking bus trip, called Oz Experience, that goes all over Australia. It is a casual bus trip that goes from city to city and you can get on and off as you please. The benefit of this kind of trip is that it allows you to meet people along the way and go to different sites that only locals know about. Sounds interesting.

They have a trip that takes you from Melbourne to Adelaide in about three days. This means I would have to fly to Melbourne and catch the bus on the way back to Adelaide. Since my scheduled trip begins this coming Monday, I need to act quickly. We’ll see what happens.

In other news, last night was the fourth installment of our Wednesday night Baptism Bible Study. I taught on “The Meaning of Baptism”, focusing mainly on Romans 6:1-14, Galatians 3:26-29, and Colossians 2:11-12. It was the most well attended bible study to date.

Since studying the biblical teaching on baptism I have been amazed at the rich symbolism that is contained in this ordinance. Baptism is not just some religious ritual. There is profound truth put on display when a person is baptized. For example, one truth put on display, is the realitly that baptism symbolizes our death to sin and our new life to God. Baptism also symbolizes the fact that we now belong to Christ. We are no longer our own (hence the phrase, “baptized in the name of Jesus Christ”). Amazing truths indeed.

Brian—can you postpone the hiking trip until your dad is there; or schedule it again when he comes to visit you and your friends. Seems it would be a ‘life time experience.’

Your teaching on baptism is powerful/pop.

I’m so jealous that you are going on the Great Ocean Road. Take lots of pictures and share them with us!
